Terpenes are organic compounds found in the essential oils of plants. The terpene oils found in cannabis give each strain its specific scent. Each type also has unique physical and psychoactive effects. Below are some examples of common terpenes found in our handcrafted cannabis.
Caryophyllene has spicy, peppery notes like those found in black pepper, cloves, and cinnamon. It is great for inflammation, especially for treatment of gastrointestinal inflammation.
Humulene produces a hoppy, earthy aroma. It is an effective appetite suppressant and exhibits potent anti-inflammatory effects.
Linalool offers sweet floral and citrus aromas. It is highly analgesic and anti-epileptic, an effective medicine for treating seizures.
D-Limonene offer the strong citrus aromas found in some cannabis strains. D-Limonene is antifungal and antibacterial and can help aid in the absorption of other terpenes through the skin and mucous membranes.
Pinene. Alpha-Pinene boasts a strong pine aroma. It’s counterpart Beta-Pinene offers aromas of herbs like dill, parsley and basil. The terpene is a powerful bronchodilator and effective against inflammation.
Eucalyptol is derived from eucalyptus oil and produces an earthy, minty aroma. Eucalyptol is great for a number of conditions and has been shown to relieve pain, slow bacterial and fungal growth, reduce inflammation.
Alpha-Farnesene offers a fragrant green apple aroma. The secondary terpene has strong anti-inflammatory and tumor-inhibiting effects. The terpene has also been found to help in suppressing muscle spasms.
Camphene has a pungent, earthy aroma similar to fir needles. Studies have shown the terpene helps in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides levels in blood and can help reduce risks for heart disease. Camphene is also strong antibiotic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antioxidant properties.
Beta-Myrcene offers a musky, earthy aromas with hints of fruit. The physical effects include muscle relaxation, relief from pain and inflammation and is both a powerful antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic.
Trans-Nerolidol. This secondary terpene offer floral notes of citrus and rose and is a powerful inhibitor for parasites and fungus.
